About Ceylon Kitchen

From a shared dream to a familiar name in Colombo dining. Our story is built on family, perseverance and a love of bringing people together over good food.

2013 — 2014

The beginning

Ceylon Kitchen’s journey began in 2013, when Mr. Ashkar and his brother Mr. Asrar decided to close their restaurant in Maskeliya and seek a new opportunity in Colombo. Mr. Shihan and Mr. Farhan joined them, with financial support from their brother Mr. Aslam. Together, they established Ceylon Kitchen in 2014. Despite doubts around them, the founders stayed determined and refused to give up.

BUILT TOGETHER

Dedication & growth

The founders dedicated themselves to the business, living with their families upstairs above the restaurant and sharing the challenges of its early days. Through hard work, commitment and patience, they built a loyal customer base and steadily improved the restaurant. As the business grew, they chose to expand, share responsibilities and explore opportunities across Colombo.

ACROSS COLOMBO

Expansion & network

Their expansion included Lanka Hotel in Rathmalana, Jamaliya in Havelock Town, Ceylon Kitchen branches on Hill Street and in Galkissa, Dehiwala, and Ceylon Kitchen at Union Place. The journey brought challenges as well as growth. The group developed into a network of seven restaurants across the Colombo area, carrying forward the same dedication, family support and perseverance that shaped its beginning.
